A Bit of A Do

We are planning A Bit of a Do to celebrate  moving into our new shop & more importantly to raise some money for a local Swaffham charity The Merle Boddy Day Centre whose fundraising has been decimated by Covid. We were hoping to be able to raise £2000 for them at our Ladies Day in late October which we reluctantly took the decision to cancel last month, SO before we are all locked up again we have decided to organise a two day event that we think people will feel more comfortable supporting in these still uncertain times.

Our launch party will take place over two days, Thursday October 7th & Friday October 8th.

Over the two days Artichoke will be donating 10% of their sales in store & 5% of their online sales to The Merle Boddy Centre, so you can help by shopping til you drop with us during those two days. We also have several events planned that you can get involved with either in person or online.

Day Time Shopping on Thursday
Thursday from 10am to 4pm is for those of you who are still feeling uncertain about life but want to join in the celebrations. We expect it to be the quieter of the two days as there are no formal activities. Please join us for a glass of fizz & to browse our new  autumn/winter collection.

Drinks at 5
Judy Anscombe, Lady Mayor of Swaffham, has kindly agreed to officially open 1 London Street at 5pm on Thursday October 7th. Drinks & nibbles will then be served until 8pm & we hope that lots of customers, friends & fellow businesses in Swaffham will join us for an evening of celebration.

Friday = Free Facials
Artichoke Girl Michaela Franklin has agreed to spend the afternoon of Friday October 8th with us & is offering free facials & skin care advice. This is the only part of the event that MUST be pre-booked to avoid disappointment. We are offering hourly appointments from 1pm (the mid day slots have already gone!).

You will receive a 45 minute facial within a small group during which you can discuss your specific skincare concerns & needs, such as anti aging products, fine lines, uneven skin tone & open pores & menopausal skin changes.

You are welcome to book as an individual or with a group of friends.

Silent Auction
We know that many of you live too far away to be able to join in the fun first hand so as well as trying to think of  a way to do a ‘Live’ during the drinks party (work in progress) we have also come up with the idea of a silent auction. We are yet to finalise details but instead of raffling prizes that our friends & suppliers are donating we thought we could ask for bids either by email or on social media. More details of this are to follow.

So far we have had donated items of clothing from our brands, Temple spa skin care products, vouchers for Strattons Boutitique Hotel & handbags. If you feel that you are able to donate a item or an experience to the auction please do get in touch with Sarah on 01760 724948.

If anyone wants to take him up on it I might even persuade Rob to offer a cuddle with a piglet to the growing list!

More About The Merle Boddy
The Merle Boddy is a day centre based in Swaffham for clients with dementia & other mental illnesses. It offers respite to carers as well as a stimulating environment for it’s clients. The basic service that is provided is paid for by social services or private patients however any ‘extras’ as the manager, Georgie, describes them are paid for fromtheir fundraising efforts. Extras include pretty basic items such as the cake that clients are served with their coffee on arrival, birthday treats & the games & themed days that the centre provides.

Their fundraising has been decimated during covid & we are confident that every penny that you donate will end up with the end user so we have set up a just giving page to enable you,  if you wish, to donate directly to them
