Dressing A Pear Shape Who May Not Be Pear Shape After All

The weather in Swaffham was atrocious yesterday afternoon & because of this our Norfolk WiFi lived up to it’s notorious reputation (!!!). Keeping it real as always we soldiered on but lost sight & sound at various points during our chat with Karen.

In Part One, Karen talks about how her underwear is the foundation of all her outfits & Sarah pops her in a new pair of jeans.

Below is an explanation of  bits you missed as we have edited out the no sound & black bits from the video we have uploaded.

Karen is 56 , is 5’5″ & is a UK size 12 to 14. She works as a Finance & HR Director (apart from shopping) her hobby is upholstery & she loves entertaining & fund raising.

Karen doesn’t need to be suited & booted for work but does have to look smart in both her roles within the company so chooses to wear separates & dresses. Outside of work she has a classic, smart casual style, wearing strong shapes & colours.

She loves black anything & white shirts, although she looks great in our Surkana Jersey prints & has several in her wardrobe. Also anything with a stripe.

Dresses – hates frills & flounces but loves shirt waisters (which she belts) as well as midi fit & flare.

Knitwear, loves v neck, roll neck & cowl neck jumpers but will avoid boat necks like the plague. Although theoretically as a pear shape she should look good in them, if they end at the wrong place they emphasise her thighs and can make her look boxy because she has broad shoulders. She will wear crew necks but only with a shirt underneath.

It is just a pity that the weather & technology got the better of us as it was a great session, fortunately Karen has agreed to come back in the Spring.

In Part Two Sarah & Karen look at some jackets she looks great in as well as a couple that don’t quite work. She also falls in love with a pair of trousers that if she followed ‘The Rules’ she should never wear, but we put our thinking caps on & come up with a way to make them work for her.
