Real Women, Real Style: In-Store Styling Sessions at Artichoke
At Artichoke, we know that finding clothes you love and feel great in are an important part of helping you feeling good about you. We also think that most actually women know what does & doesn’t suit them, even if they don’t always realise or can’t verbalise it.
A typical example of this is the customer who comes into our shop determined to buy beige narrow jeans or trousers, but she is particularly pear shaped & when she tries the trousers on hates them. When we have a chat about why she feels they are not working for her we ask how many pieces like this she has in her wardrobe & the answer usually is none, because she doesn’t like drawing attention to her thighs & lighter colours emphasise every lump & bump. Instinctively she knows this so sticks to wearing darker coloured narrow trousers. But now she really wants a pair of light coloured trousers.
That’s where we come in & suggest that the comprimise is to have a lighter colour in a wider style…..
At Artichoke we offer relaxed, in-store styling sessions in our Swaffham shop. No appointment needed. No pressure. Just real women helping other real women put outfits together that give you confidence & make you feel good.
We’re not trained stylists (and we’re not pretending to be) but we wear the clothes we sell, we know how they fit, and we style customers every day. Between us, we’re a mix of shapes, sizes, and personal styles, and that’s our strength. What works for one of us might work for you.
Each season we buy colour ‘stories’ that are repeated year on year, helping you build a co-ordinated & cohesive wardrobe, full of items that you love, will work with pieces you have bought in previous seasons & you will wear for for years to come.
Whether you’re looking for a few pieces for your holiday, just want something new to wear to lunch with friends or want a complete overhaul, we’ll help you find garments that make you feel like the best version of yourself.
We know the “rules”—but we also know when to break them. And we firmly believe that confidence beats any trend. If you feel good, you will look good.
One of our Devon based, online customers, Chantal popped in whilst she was having a break in Norfolk & kindly agreed to be a guinea pig, to give you an idea of how relaxed & informal a morning with us is.
Chantal has shopped with us for several years, has a fairly casual lifestyle, holidays in Thailand & as a family, enjoys going to the races. This we knew. What we didn’t know, she is not a huge fan of jackets (although she loves the Erfo Denim jacket she bought online from us a couple of years ago) & is very conscious of her upper arms.
She came looking for a dress & a pair of jeans.
With Sarah she spent time walking the shop floor, picking pieces that she thought she might like with Sarah popping in some that she found challenging. Then the trying on & chat started.
What did she learn? That when she buys a coat to go racing or even for every day, practical puffers apart, they should be fitted & waisted to show off her figure.
What did she leave Artichoke with? Well it wasn’t a dress as we couldn’t find one that was absolutely right. As well has the jeans she was searching for, her bag contained a couple of gorgeous tops, a skirt she would not have considered looking at & a beach bag as a thank you from us.
We have put together a reel highlighting some of the moments from the morning that she spent with us, you can watch it if you CLICK HERE
If you can’t get to the shop, we’re still here to help. We are happy to chat over the phone or by video, so you can get the same thoughtful advice from the comfort of home. And don’t miss our weekly lives, where we showcase outfits on women of all shapes and sizes—so you can see how the clothes look on real women, not size 8, 6′ models!
At the end of the day, the best outfit is the one you feel good in. That’s what we’re here to help you find.
Please pop in next time you are near Swaffham or visitng Norfolk or give is a call on 01760 724948. We are looking forward to catching up with you.
